Asura Scans

Asura Scans

The written-story companion for manhwa, manga and webtoon fans — plus straight answers to the errors, slow loads and paywall questions readers run into.

Asura Scans is a fan library for manhwa, manga and webtoon readers. It grew out of scanlation — fan translations of Korean comics and Japanese comics by volunteer translation groups — and now publishes the full written story of each series, so you can read the plot without waiting on image scans. Text pages load fast, stay readable when the scans are down, and don't sit behind the paywall.

Readers use it to catch up on a series, check what happened in a chapter, or keep reading during an outage. The main parts are the library of series below, a Premium tier for early access, and the help sections that follow: why the site is slow, whether it's shutting down, if Premium is worth it, how to fix the Internal Server Error, Client Side Error and Application Error, how to tell if it's down, and what the paywall means.

Why is Asura Scans so slow?

Speed drops for two reasons. First, traffic. When a popular manhwa or webtoon chapter drops, thousands of readers hit the server at once and pages queue. Second, weight. A scanlation page loads dozens of large images, so your browser downloads several megabytes before you see anything. Ad scripts and distance from the server add more delay.

Written-story pages skip the images. You get the plot of the Korean comics or Japanese comics you follow as text, so a chapter loads in under a second even during a rush. Use the meter to see the gap.

Fast. Text pages stay quick even when the site is busy.

Is Asura Scans shutting down?

A dead link is not a shutdown. Asura Scans has changed domains several times. Scanlation sites move often because of hosting limits, ad networks, and takedown notices from legal manga platforms. Each move strands readers on an old URL, and the rumor mill turns that into "the site is gone."

Returned to the known name once it was clear the brand, not the URL, is what readers follow.

Tip: bookmark the current domain and follow the group on MangaUpdates so a move never loses you.

Is Asura Scans Premium worth it?

Premium buys three things: early chapters, no ads, and a badge. It costs about the price of one coin on Lezhin Comics or Tappytoon, but it covers the whole library instead of a single title. If you read a handful of series each week and hate waiting, it pays for itself. If you check in now and then, the free tier is fine.

How to fix Asura Scans Internal Server Error?

An Internal Server Error (HTTP 500) comes from the server, not your computer. You can't fix the server, but you can rule out your side and find a way to keep reading. Work through the steps in order.

Step 1 / 5
1

Refresh once, then wait

A 500 means the server failed, not your device. Give it 30 seconds and reload. Most spikes clear on their own.

Is Asura Scans down right now?

First find out if it's down for everyone or just you. Run the check below — it pings this site from your browser and times the reply. A green result means the site answers you fine, so a broken page is likely a cache or network issue on your end. A red result means your browser can't reach it at all.

How to fix Asura Scans Client Side Error?

A client side error starts in your browser, not on the server. The page loads but a script fails, so the reader goes blank or throws an error box. The fix is on your device. Pick the cause that fits and follow the step.

Hard refresh with Ctrl+Shift+R (Cmd+Shift+R on Mac). If it sticks, clear cache and cookies for the site. Old cached scripts are the top cause of a client side error.

Why does Asura Scans show an Application Error?

An Application Error is not a page-not-found and not a browser bug. It means the app itself crashed on the host that runs it. Your request passes through several stages before a chapter reaches you. Click each stage to see what can break there — the App stage is the one that throws this message.

App

This is where an Application Error lives. The app crashed or a new deploy failed on the host. Only the team can fix it — refresh in a few minutes and it usually clears.

What is the Asura Scans paywall?

The paywall is a timed lock, not a permanent one. The newest chapters sit behind Premium for a short early-access window, then turn free for everyone. Legal manga platforms like MangaPlus and Webtoon use the same idea, and coin sites like Lezhin Comics and Tappytoon charge per chapter instead. Here the window is about seven days.

Drag the slider to move time forward and watch the early chapters unlock.

Written-story summaries of each chapter stay free from day one, so you can follow the plot while the scans are still in the early window.

Asura Scans keeps the written story of your manhwa, manga and webtoon online even when the scans are slow, down, or behind the paywall. A domain move is not a shutdown, a 500 or Application Error is usually a short server hiccup, and a Client Side Error is fixable from your own browser. Bookmark the current domain, keep Premium if you read every week, and use the fixes above the next time a page breaks.
